The most popular way to Shakti is in bed, before sleep. Using the Pillow as an extension of your Shakti Mat lets you target your neck and get even more relaxation from your downtime.
When you place it under your head, neck and shoulders, it disperses pressure avoiding any pinch points. Your shoulders and neck experience a deep release that transitions up toward the top of your skull.
Its shape is also perfect for releasing tension in hard-to-reach curves, and you can rest your face against the spikes for a subtle sensation.

Will it hurt? Yes. But only for a little in the beginning.
Each spike responds to tension in your body, so more tension = more sensation. The initial “Ouch!” you feel activates your body’s pain response and tells it to send happiness hormones and pain-relief chemicals to the area you’re targeting. If those spikes aren’t sharp enough – or you’re beyond relaxed already – you won’t feel much.
After a few minutes, the tingling sensation fades into a deep, relaxing warmth. The redness is purely a circulation boost. You might even fall asleep.

I bought this mat for meditation while laying on my back. The mat keeps me from dozing off or sleeping. I find that the first 5 minutes requires surrendering to the spikes as it is spicy to the skin. The pillow is an extra accessory for my neck. If budget is tight, its not necessary and you can use a regular pillow. I feel the extra prick on my neck gives me the complete experience. I don't know if its just me, but when I use this right before bed, my heart beats more noticeably and it makes me feel woozy. I would avoid going straight to bed right after. So far so good and will continue to use it. Bonus: love the pink color !

I actually purchased the mat thinking I didn’t need the pillow and my mate said the pillow is a must so I quickly contacted customer service to add a pillow on they were extremely helpful.

Pure bliss
Have been using my Premium Acupressure Pillow together with my Premium Acupressure Mat. To say they have been game changers would be an understatement. I bought the Level 2 and when I used it for the first time, my body was screaming at me to get up for the first ten minutes! Knowing that I had to push through this stage, I controlled my breathing and slowly got used to the sensation. And then, I entered the most marvellous feeling of pure bliss. goes well with the mat
if I were to just choose either the mat or the pillow, id prioritize the mat but the pillow is a nice addition for any upper shoulder or scalp tension relief. I wish it got a little deeper into my neck area but it's pretty flexible and nice to use on the couch or while sitting in a chair during the day
