When you place it under your head, neck and shoulders, it disperses pressure avoiding any pinch points. Your shoulders and neck experience a deep release that transitions up toward the top of your skull.

Will it hurt? Yes. But only for a little in the beginning.
Each spike responds to tension in your body, so more tension = more sensation. The initial “Ouch!” you feel activates your body’s pain response and tells it to send happiness hormones and pain-relief chemicals to the area you’re targeting. I bought this mat to use as I’ve never had anxiety in such a physical sense. It has wrought not only my emotions but also my physical state. After using the mat nightly before bed it has made me sleep better and it has helped me find some clarity during the day as it must have helped calmed my nervous down.
At first I didn’t understand how it was all connected tho after reading more into the relation between nervous system and emotions and resetting, I am now I’m much needed relief from the emotions running my days and nights.
It was uncomfortable to start with but no more uncomfortable than dealing with emotions and a nervous system that is close to shutting down.

Relaxing

Surprisingly comfy!
The pillow is probably the best way to get started with Shakti because of its relatively lower surface area. Make no mistake, though - it’s still intense at the beginning but becomes relaxing enough to nap on.

Feels Great on my Head
I’ve enjoyed using this on my head or at my lower back when I’m watching TV. It works as a food extension of my mat which I also really like.
