When you place it under your head, neck and shoulders, it disperses pressure avoiding any pinch points. Your shoulders and neck experience a deep release that transitions up toward the top of your skull.

Will it hurt? Yes. But only for a little in the beginning.
Each spike responds to tension in your body, so more tension = more sensation. The initial “Ouch!” you feel activates your body’s pain response and tells it to send happiness hormones and pain-relief chemicals to the area you’re targeting. If those spikes aren’t sharp enough – or you’re beyond relaxed already – you won’t feel much.

Amazing
If you can’t afford to buy the mat and the pillow, I would recommend this pillow on its own. The quality is amazing. It is very easy to get use to the spikes and really helps with my tight neck muscles. Due to my job my neck and lower back have always been sore especially the last year or so. This use pillow for both. I wish I had bought it sooner!

This is my most recent purchase from Shakti and I have been using it for savasana. Just wow! It really helps me drift off and I feel super relaxed at the end of my session.
